How to create a tax group in the NetSuite Legacy Tax Adapter for GTD

A tax group is a group of tax codes relevant to a transaction. Once you've set up your tax codes, you can combine them to create tax groups.

One common use for tax groups is pairing the GST and PST tax codes for each province in Canada.

To create a tax group for a Canadian province, follow these steps:

  1. Go to Setup > Accounting > Tax Groups > New.

  2. Select Canada from the Item Type list.

  3. Fill in the following information:
    • Tax Code: Enter a name for the tax group, beginning with TWE_
    • Province: Select a province from the dropdown menu.
    • GST/HST: Select a GST or HST code from the dropdown menu. The rate of the code you select will automatically appear in the Rate field.
    • PST: Select a PST code from the dropdown menu.

  4. If you have a OneWorld account, select one or more subsidiaries. Select the Include Children option if you want to apply the tax code to the children of the subsidiary.

  5. Click Save.
