How to add a product tax code to an item in the NetSuite Legacy Tax Adapter for GTD

The adapter typically uses the item number to determine the correct tax rate when it communicates with GTD. You can use a product tax code (PTC) to tell the adapter to apply a different tax rate if needed.

The Sovos PTC field will override the item name in the request to GTD. If the Sovos PTC field is empty, the adapter will send the value in the Item Name/Number field.

Adding the Sovos PTC field to the display

If the Sovos PTC field doesn't appear on the Item view, follow these steps to add it to the display:

1. Go to Customization > Lists, Records, & Fields > Item Fields.
   
   
   
   
2. Click on the Sovos PTC record link.
   
   
   
   
3. On the Display tab, select where you want the Sovos PTC field to appear from the Subtab dropdown menu.
   
   
   
   
4. Click Save.
5. Click Apply To Forms.
   
   
   
   
6. Select the Show option on all the forms that you want the Sovos PTC field to appear on.
   • To add the field to all available forms, click Mark All.
   
   
   
   
7. Click Save.

Adding a product tax code to an item

1. Go to Lists > Accounting > Items.
   
   
   
   
2. Click the Edit link for the item you want to add a product tax code to.
3. In the Sovos PTC field, enter the value of the product tax code.
   
   
   
   
4. Click Save.
