If you disagree with the delivery/freight amount for a specific state in GTD, you can tell GTD to not subtract the delivery amount from the taxable amount. You can do this for both delivery charges and delivery insurance.
To do this, follow these steps:
- Log in to legacy Global Tax Determination.
- You can also log in to new Global Tax Determination and go to Account Setup > Advanced Settings to open the legacy GTD landing page.
- Click Manage.
- Click Business Practice.
- On the Adjust Taxable Amounts page, select Delivery/Insurance Charges, then click Go.
- Select the Mode of Transport code and/or the Delivery Terms code from the dropdown menus. If you select a Mode of Transport code and don't select a Delivery Terms code, the Delivery Terms code will be set to DPU by default.
- Select United States from the Country dropdown menu. If you want to modify the delivery amount for a specific state, select that state from the dropdown menu; if you want to modify the delivery amounts for several states at the same time, leave this field as Select State... Click Show.
- Select or clear the boxes depending on whether or not you want to subtract the delivery amount from the taxable amount.
- Select the box if you want to subtract the delivery amount from the taxable amount.
- Clear the box if you don't want to subtract the delivery amount from the taxable amount.
- Click Save.
