How to add multiple header-level discounts in the NetSuite Legacy Tax Adapter for GTD

Basic NetSuite Legacy Tax only lets you add one header-level discount per transaction. As of v1.1.7 of the NetSuite Legacy Tax Adapter for GTD, you can use subtotal items to add multiple header-level discounts for a single transaction. All discounts below the subtotal item will be considered header-level discounts.

Adding multiple header-level discounts using a subtotal item

  1. Go to Lists > Accounting > Items > New.
  2. Select Subtotal for the Item Type, then create and save the subtotal item.
  3. Open the record that contains your transactions and add the subtotal item to the end of your item list, then add the discounts you want to apply at the header level.
  4. Select Sovos Multiple Header-Level Discounts.
  5. Click Save.

Note that the discount amount will not be reflected in the Summary box. Since this feature is not part of basic NetSuite Legacy Tax, the discounts below the subtotal item are not taken into account when calculating transaction amounts for the Summary.

Going back to the regular header-level discount

NetSuite Legacy Tax's regular header-level discounts function the same as before. To go back to using the regular header-level discount, select the header-level discount from the dropdown menu and unselect Sovos Multiple Header-Level Discounts.

If you select a header-level discount from the dropdown menu but leave Sovos Multiple Header-Level Discounts selected, the multiple header-level discount functionality will take priority and the regular header-level discount will not apply to the transaction.
