Edit return details

You can edit return details while the return is in the Adjust stage. If the return is in a different workflow stage, roll it forward or back to the Adjust stage to edit it.

Once a return has been filed and marked as Complete, you can't edit the details. If you notice a mistake in a return after you've filed it, you can amend the return and file it again.

Edit, split, or delete a transaction

  1. On the Returns page, click on the return you want to edit to open the return details.
  2. Click on the Return Data tab.
  3. Click on the transaction you want to edit to open the transaction details. Click the three vertical dots, then select one of the editing options:
    • To change the exempt amount and/or tax amount, select Edit.
    • To include a portion of the exempt amount and/or tax amount in this return and place the rest on hold, select Split.
    • To remove the transaction from this return, select Delete.

  4. If you selected Edit or Split, make your changes in the popup and click Save. If you selected Delete, click Delete on the confirmation message.

You can delete multiple transactions at once by selecting the box next to each transaction in the Return Data tab and clicking the trash can icon. Click Delete on the confirmation message to delete the transactions.

Transactions that have been changed will have an icon next to the invoice number in the Return Data tab: a pencil for edited transactions and a double arrow for split transactions.

If you click on an edited or split transaction, you can see a list of changes that have been made in the History section.

Edit the worksheet

Negative values will be highlighted in red when the return is in the Adjust stage.

You can view a simplified version of the return in the Worksheet tab. To edit this data, follow these steps:

  1. On the Returns page, click on the return you want to edit to open the return details.
  2. Click on the Worksheet tab, then click on the Edit icon, which looks like a pencil.

  3. Make your edits. To undo a single edit, click the Undo icon. To undo all edits, click Undo All.

Fields with boxes are editable; fields without boxes are fixed and cannot be edited.
  4. Once you've finished making changes, click Save All.

  5. A confirmation message will appear. Click Save.

Fields that have been edited will have a triangle in the corner. You can click on the triangle to see a list of changes that have been made to the field.
