How to add and manage expirations in CertManager

You can set an expiration period for exemptions in each state/province and for each reason for exemption in CertManager. If there's no expiration date on the exemption certificate, an exemption date will be set automatically. If you set an expiration period for the state/province or reason for exemption, then the expiration date will populate after you select a reason for exemption, state/province, and effective date.

Turning on expirations

To turn on expirations, go to Settings > Expirations and click the Enable Expirations slider.

Adding or editing expirations individually

You can set different expiration periods for each state/province for each reason for exemption.

You can also set (Default) expiration periods. If you don't set expiration periods for a reason for exemption, CertManager will use the (Default) expiration periods for exemptions with that reason for exemption.

  1. Go to Settings > Expirations and select the reason for exemption.

  2. For each state/province, enter the number of years the exemption is valid for (maximum 99).

  3. Click Apply.

  4. A message saying Expiration periods saved successfully will appear and the expiration periods will be added to the table.

Adding or editing expirations in bulk

You can use a template to upload multiple expiration periods at once.

  1. Go to Settings > Expirations and click Upload.

  2. Click Download template.

  3. An XLSX file called expiration-period-template will be downloaded to your computer. Open this file and follow the instructions on the Expiration period template sheet to make your changes, then click Save.

  4. In CertManager, drag and drop the file into the box or click Browse and select the file from your computer, then click Upload.

  5. A message will appear saying that the file has been added to the upload queue. To view the status of the upload, go to Uploads and Downloads.

  6. When the file status is Complete, click Refresh. Your changes should appear in the table.

Downloading expirations

You can download all expiration periods for your organization in a spreadsheet by following these steps:

  1. On the Expiration Periods page, click the Download Expiration Periods icon.

  2. A message will appear saying that your download is in progress. Go to Uploads and Downloads > Downloads. When the file status is Ready, hover over the file and click the three vertical dots, then click Download.

  3. The file will be downloaded to your computer.

Turning off expirations

You can delete expiration periods by turning off expirations. This won't affect expiration dates that were automatically set based on previously entered expiration periods.

You may want to download your expiration periods before turning off expirations as once expiration periods are deleted, the only way to get them back is to reupload them.

  1. On the Exemption Periods page, click the three vertical dots, then click Disable Expiration Periods.

  2. Click Disable on the popup message.
