How to create a credit memo without an invoice in NetSuite SuiteTax

This article is for NetSuite SuiteTax users only. If you have NetSuite Legacy Tax, read this article for help with creating a credit memo.

You can create a credit memo from a corresponding invoice or independently from it. To create an independent credit memo, follow these steps:    

  1. Go to Transactions > Customers > Issue Credit Memos.
  2. Select a customer from the Customer dropdown menu.
  3. Select a location from the Location dropdown menu.



  4. On the Items tab, select an item from the Item dropdown menu.
  5. Enter a value in the Amount field.
  6. Click Add.



  7. Click Preview Tax.
  8. You can check the total tax amount in the Summary box.



  9. Go to the Tax Details tab if you want to check the individual tax lines.
  10. Click Save.
